Unprecedented Times! A Paradigm Shift Towards Remote Working.
When the news broke about the Corona Virus had hit Wuhan in China and was beginning to spread, many of us thought that it didn’t affect us because we were thousands of miles away. How wrong we were!
Over the past couple of months, virtually every country worldwide has been affected with this virus, with many countries going on lock down, workers laid off, and business owners wondering what the future holds.
As members of the human race we are in this situation together and life as we know it will change globally forever.
Whilst many businesses will fold because workers can’t get to work, you need to take a deep hard insight into how you can change your methods of working to stay safe, not just now but in the future if this pandemic occurs again, which authorities think it will.
STRONORIGIN has therefore decided that from now on, all our operations will be carried out remotely with minimal face to face contact, however with the likes of Skype and zoom and other video conferencing platforms we can full fill every need possible.
Isolation can be a daunting word but by working remotely that is something that is inevitable, but this does not mean that spirits can be dampened, once restrictions have been lifted social contact will more than likely be resumed for friends and family, but work can be done purely by remote access.
Virtually every industry can embrace remote working, it will not only be beneficial to employees but also cut costs for employers.
It is a fact that many business owners do not trust employees to work at home, what will they be doing , will they be watching Netflix? Well, what I say to these sceptics is, employees will work better, they will get jobs done quicker, you will see better outcomes. Its all relative , if an employee doesn’t do the job then employers will notice, so its in the employees best interest to work harder from home.
Employers now have so may tools they can use to totally digitise their businesses, many with low monthly subscriptions rather that big upfront payments.
The gig economy has grown rapidly over the last few years for remote workers and governments need to embrace this by building robust systems that protect workers in times of need.
Certain employers will find that they have a split workforce, as manual jobs will still need to be carried out on company premises, but these workers can be protected by the implementation of stringent social distancing measures and personal protective equipment to allow the employees the safety they need.
Work safe, work happy, work from home if you can!
